Rurouni Kenshin 2023! With the trailer dropping last September, it has all but been confirmed that Rurouni Kenshin is getting a brand-new anime series. Long-time fans are both excited and skeptical about the reboot. As it is one of the most popular anime ever made, Rurouni Kenshin 2023 does leave a lot of questions to be asked. Avid fans are right to have doubts over a brand-new series. I have doubts as well, the same with the new Slam Dunk movie.

The original anime is a fond memory for many of us and a cause of pure nostalgia. So a reboot can both bring joy and misery depending on how it will be conducted and presented. Although we are skeptical there are reasons for high hopes and renewed expectations. So it is up to Rurouni Kenshin 2023 to answer all our questions in time. Rurouni Kenshin, The Legendary Legacy

Nobuhiro Watsuki created a masterpiece with a blend of fiction and actual history with his manga Rurouni Kenshin. The serialized work that started in 1994 was an instant fan favorite. Just a little under two years later, when the anime was released it took the world by storm. People were fascinated with the engaging and entertaining series that gave proper history lessons on Japan’s turbulent Bakumatsu period and the early Meiji era. The animated TV series would amaze anime fans for years to come.

Himura Kenshin, a ronin (wanderer) arrives in Tokyo in the 11^th year of Meiji after a decade of wandering the lands of Japan. He meets Kamiya Kaoru, a young girl who is the second-generation master of the once-prestigious Kamiya Dojo. Their chance meeting starts with a misunderstanding as Kaoru was on the lookout for the dangerous and mysterious murderer named ‘Hitokiri Battosai’. The turn of events leads Kenshin to rescue Kaoru from the jaws of death and in return, she offers him a place at her home. Then begins the journey of a most exciting adventure with revelations of dark pasts and hopes for a bright future.

Liden Films is adapting the serialized manga into a brand-new anime series promising to depict the original work more accurately with a supposed title Rurouni Kenshin 2023. The responsibility of direction falls to the capable hands of Hideo Yamamoto; the scripting is being done by Hideyuki Kurata and Yu Takami is in charge of music composition. Nobuhiro Watsuki supervised the character designs that were done by Terumi Nishii. Soma Saito and Rie Takahashi are cast as the lead characters replacing the original voice actors of the 1996-1998 anime. Rurouni Kenshin is set to premiere on Fuji TV sometime this year.

What To Expect From Rurouni Kenshin 2023

Expectations are expectedly sky-high for the reboot series. However, high expectations can bring severe disappointment. Instead of deliberating on this uncertain point let’s see what we can look forward to.

The very first sector for improvement is the animation style. As we know a lot has changed and how much technology has improved since the 90s’. So, a Rurouni Kenshin anime with better quality and high-definition animation style will make lots of people drool. Color saturation and contrasts are bound to be leaps and bound better as we already have seen in the trailer. Now, all we can do is wait for the release and enjoy every bit of it.

Another thing that has been reported by various outlets is that this time the series will depict the original manga more accurately. As we have seen in the previous anime, the storyline deviated on several occasions. Also, some arcs were left out entirely and later adapted into short OVAs. These left a sour taste in the mouths of many. However, hopefully, this time those shortcomings will be fixed properly.
