Chainsaw Man Season 2 is coming?!! While, there hasn’t been an official confirmation given out yet, after the knockout success of the first season of Chainsaw Man anime, people started greeding and clamoring for more. While others, me here for example have already caught up with the latest chapter release from the manga.
Chainsaw Man Season 1 adapts the first half of part 1 of CSM by Tatsuki Fujimoto, which ended on Katana Man arc. And MAPPA couldn’t help but tease the next one with a brief sequence of Reze before the credits rolled. So, that is already confirmation enough for Chainsaw Man Season 2 but frustratingly enough they are not giving any updates on it.
The show has already amassed a large audience with success built largely on the hype and paying off. Needless to say, fans of both are now eagerly waiting for the story to continue in Chainsaw Man Season 2. All I can tell you now is that there are speculations circling about what’s coming next. In regards to a new movie, and that the next season might be close by. Light Spoiler warning ahead!
What Should Follow After Season 1?
With season 1 ending after Denji defeats Katana Man, during the credits roll, we see Makima making her plans already for the Gun Devil much later while Denji, Power, and Aki go on to celebrate their victory in a slice of life montage. More sequence followed with Denji’s dream about the door, and finally finishing off with Reze asking him a question. So, it can be assumed that Reze will be the center of focus in Chainsaw Man Season 2.
We got to see Aki just enjoying his one last handout of a cigarette from Himeno written “easy revenge”, on the balcony while the other two slept through the night. Judging by what this entails and the background audio, it’s an obvious foreshadowing of what’s really to come in Chainsaw Man Season 2, even if he transitioned from finding those around him now to being trustworthy. Aki’s story ends much sooner after two more arcs and will lead to Denji’s downward spiral with Makima.
But the other character in the spotlight here is Reze and we get to hear who her Seiyuu will be (Reina Ueda). She is one of Denji’s other love interests besides Makima from the manga, though they were off to a good start, things got pretty tricky when she finally revealed the whole dating thing was a red herring, before going after him and the public sector. She does make quite the ‘bombastic’ impression.
More Expectations For Chainsaw Man Season 2
Already the first half of part 1 of the manga was adapted by MAPPA into 12 episodes, we should be able to see the next season covering the other half from the Bomb Girl arc to fighting the Gun Devil, and the final confrontation between Denji and the Control Devil. The high stakes battle is considered as the penultimate storyline for the end of part 1 of the manga and will be for Chainsaw Man Season 2.
Also, the bigger question is how are they going to animate the notorious Gun Devil sequences. It has been a trending meme where all the names of the Gun Devil’s victims are thrown all over the pages of the manga, and being showcased how they are killed, brutally sporadic.
Montaged altogether with the time of death, ballistic reports, and well put descriptions of the casualties, showing in such rapid pace and aptly becomes poignant about the hyper-violence the manga was known for like a bad acid trip. Chainsaw Man Season 2 seemingly will be jam-packed with more set pieces and plot drama.
The Chainsaw Man Movie
A Weibo account leaked info about both the upcoming Chainsaw Man Season 2 and a new movie. First reported by Shonen Jump News, the account later got deleted, but not without the information spilling out to the masses. Details pertaining that the new season is coming real soon, despite MAPPA CEO expressing the disappointment of low DVD/Blu-Ray sales and wanting to visit other media to distribute when it’s out.
With the success of the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie, among others like Demon Slayers: Mugen Train, First Slam Dunk, and Makoto Shinkai’s Suzume, it’s being taken into consideration that one of the arcs might be stretched out and released as a movie. Again, these can be taken largely as speculation. The studio already has its hands filled with various projects, including the highly anticipated ending to Attack on Titan. That shouldn’t understate the popularity CSM has, there’s even a stage play adaptation.
Catching Up To The Manga
Another reason that Chainsaw Man Season 2 is sort of being put on hold is probably having to do with giving Fujimoto more time to flesh out the story more. He is, after all, working on part 2, and to date has chapter 142 published from Shonen Jump+ as of 2 days ago. Making the jump from Weekly Shonen right after finishing the Control Devil arc.
Keeping up at this pace, by the time next season comes out, he’d probably be finished with doing part 2. Interestingly enough, somewhere in between he has already worked on several one-shots, standalone releases that sort of let him do some interesting creative exercises. CSM is his second full-time manga run, the first one being Fire Punch, which ended in 8 volumes.
When Will Chainsaw Man Season 2 Be Out?
I am not sure, this is because there was nothing to hint or any given word from official channels that Chainsaw Man season 2 is coming out real soon, or anything in regard to the movie’s existence. But if there’s a tentative date, it would most likely be 2024. It’s clear that MAPPA has their hands full, with Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 currently airing and the last one was out about 2 years ago.
When it gets announced, Deshi Geek will let you know as soon as something real comes up. As for the timeline of Chainsaw Man Season 2 release being in 2024 is speculative at this point but then again, the 2 years gap between seasons seems about right. With that in mind, you would not be wrong to wait for it with bated breath.
