Long Time No Sex aka LTNS is going to premiere on TVING this 19th January and it is making waves for some controversial reasons – profanity, swearing language, and violence to be precise. The K-Drama industry has recently been tackling bold and over-the-top topics and this new title is a prime example of that experimental trend. Seeing this flow of changing tracks reminds me of J-Dramas that mostly handle serious issues in the most rigid way possible. However, LTNS is not going that route entirely as it’s a R18 rated comedy drama.
The times of igniting with sexual craving and desiring each other are a distant memory. Woo-Jin and Samuel have developed into a fairly shriveled couple, both truly and inwardly. Unintentionally, they end up shaping a coercion group that spends significant time uncovering duping couples, looking for a chance to turn their lives around. This is the description of Long Time No Sex we got from MyDramaList and it sounds like a typical comedy K-Drama with a sexual twist to it.
Now, the year 2023 saw many hit-and-miss series from the Hallyu industry – Sweet Home 2, Strong Girl Nam Soon, and Gyeongseong Creature are a few of them. In 2024, we are waiting for some of the most anticipated K-Dramas as sequels to blockbusters are scheduled and some new ones comprising of stellar cast. In the midst of all this, I believe ‘Long Time No Sex’ will be a major scene stealer and go on to create some imperative hype.
The Spicy Premise
Long Time No Sex, or LTNS, is the story of a married couple who have no children and are so busy with work that they have stopped having intercourse. Woo-Jin fills in as a secretary at a three-star lodging, while Samuel goes from working for a major organization to a cabbie in the wake of experiencing a psychological episode. Woo-Jin discovers a secret about a couple she is friends with. Samuel collaborates with her and they subtly follow a couple engaged in adultery. They then coerce them to bring in cash. This forces Samuel and Woo-Jin to confront their own marriage.
In the latest trailer of Long Time No Sex, Woo-Jin shares her challenges of sexual intercourse with a friend, who asks how long it has been since the couple last slept together. She abstains from responding to the inquiry, saying that she can deal with it herself. As the real estate market takes a slump, the couple becomes progressively baffled at their monetary circumstance.
Afterwards, Woo-Jin shows Samuel her secret list of double-crossing couples, which she has accumulated through much hard work spawning from her endless curiosity. Together, they figure out how to find the couples, get proof of their betrayal and coerce them. As they part for one of their missions, the couple wish each other the best of luck.
Long Time No Sex Cast & Crew
Esom takes on the role of Woo-Jin in Long Time No Sex. She portrays the wife in the fringed marriage. Lee So-Young is a popular face in the K-Drama industry and she is known by her stage name ‘Esom’. She is a very talented actress with a cheeky charm that is undeniable. We have witnessed her seamless performances in popular titles like – Black Knight and Taxi Driver. With her track record of giving hit Dramas consistently, we can have high expectations for the upcoming one.
Ahn Jae-Hong plays Samuel in Long Time No Sex, the husband in a rigid relationship who has hidden rage despite his soft outer demeanor. Jae-Hong is also a talented actor proving his skills and worth in high-profile dramas like – Kingdom and Mask Girl. We first took notice of him in the highly popular rom-com K-Drama ‘Fight for My Way’ which starred the heartthrob Park Seo-Joon and the princess of Aegyo Kim Ji-Won. Jae-Hong portrayed his second lead character brilliantly leaving a lasting mark on the audience.
The impending series is helmed by Lim Dae-Hyung and Jeon Go-Woon, both of whom go about as both director and screenwriter. Jeon had recently worked with the two lead actors on the 2018 film Microhabitat, where they additionally played the lead couple. So, an unmistakable chemistry already exists between the cast and the crew which is most necessary following a great chemistry between the lead actors.
Where To Watch Long Time No Sex
Long Time No Sex will be available on the TVING network for the Korean audience. However, so far there has been no indication of the series being streamed on any popular streaming websites. This is a piece of sad news for the international K-Drama fans who are anticipating the show with bated breath.
I think the producers should quickly find a global distributor for Long Time No Sex – Netflix, Disney+, and Prime Video are suckers for K-Content nowadays. Otherwise, the drama will be mostly watched on pirated websites since the audience won’t be able to access it in any streaming services.
