Two Jenna Ortega projects are gaining traction and causing some much-needed drama recently. Now that SAG-AFTRA and WGA have reached a deal with the executives, it’s not long before our most-awaited shows and movies are returning to our screens. 2024 is going to be a busy year, and it’s certainly going to be one of the busiest years for the current IT girl of the American Horror genre, Ms Jenna Ortega.
While Jenna Ortega stole the show (and every teenager’s heart) as Wednesday Addams last year, she cemented her place as a scream queen in Hollywood way before with the slasher franchise “Scream”, and A24 productions like “X”, and now as days pass by, it just feels like the most rational thing to have her as one of the prime faces in a horror/gothic production. And this is why we can’t wait for 2024 (Also, there is ‘Beyond The Spider-Verse’ coming in 2024)!
New Supreme Of Horror
When Scream decided to return with a ‘Requel’ in 2022, people were skeptical about giving the Carpenter sisters a chance. But looks like after two films back to back, Tara Carpenter (played by lovely Jenna Ortega) is here to stay. If Jenna can manage, we mean!
The star, who debuted in horror movies with “The Babysitter: Killer Queen” back in 2020, is currently in a tight spot with having to balance two Tim Burton projects on her shoulders. After Wednesday’s massive success, it’s no surprise they’re trying to grind out the second season as fast as possible since now the strike is over. And then there’s Beetlejuice 2. It’s quite evident that Tim Burton is impressed with Ortega’s capabilities as an actor in a sinister setup, and she’s signed as a top-billed cast in the long-overdue sequel to Beetlejuice.
Amazingly, more of Wednesday Addams’ adventure awaits us in the future, and we’ll also get to see Jenna Ortega in Beetlejuice 2, but that leaves most people with the question: how is she going to manage to work on Scream 7 with two Burton productions going on at the same time?
The Queen Returneth!
Well, Scream ‘Requel’ fans have nothing to worry about. It’s been confirmed that Tara will be returning in the next installment, so it’s not the end of her getting all stabby-stabby in Scream-verse (and if everything goes well, maybe another packed punch at Gale Weathers? Just kidding, I’m always Team Gale!).
We don’t surely know how she’s going to manage it, but the insiders confirmed that Jenna Ortega is looking forward to reprising her role as Tara Carpenter, so there’s that. And still not a lot more can be said, things have just started to go back to normal after a complete halt during half of the spring and the whole summer this year.
Two Legacy Films Back To Back?
Beetlejuice 2 is expected to hit theaters around September or Halloween in 2024. It’d be pretty rad if Scream 7 got a release date for 2024 too, but most are speculating that fans will have to wait until 2025 for the film. We’d like this to be just a mere assumption. Double horror features of Jenna Ortega in a year? Shouldn’t this be a norm already?
Now, while we’re excited about Jenna Ortega starring in both films, it also begs the question: with Jenna in both, will these two films become the ultimate rival in 2024?
Scream 7 Vs Beetlejuice 2!
Nothing can be confirmed until we have official teasers or trailers but given the legacy of both productions, expect the wildest reaction!
With the release of both films, it’s super likely that Ms Jenna Ortega will inherit the coven-supreme position like Jamie Lee Curtis and Sarah Michelle Gellar in the cinematic universe of slashers, ghosts, and everything supernatural. It’s also amazing how one girl is the primary attraction in two of the biggest horror films of 2024 (or 2025). Two decades on this planet, and she already made it!
Scream 7: What To Expect
Scream 7 will continue the ventures of the Carpenter sisters, along with the twins. And hopefully, OG queens Gale and maybe Neve, if the executives don’t continue being jerks. Christopher Landon is the new director, as the previous director duo “Radio Silence” decided to part ways to focus on other types of projects.
So, it’s even more exciting now. With Landon’s involvement, an obvious shift in the creative energy is expected. This can be super good news, given Landon has been a long-time fan of the ‘Scream’ franchise, and not a new face in the horror film game. Maybe things would be a lot different in the fifth one with him as director. Now only time will tell us whether we’re assuming wrong or right.
Beetlejuice 2: What To Expect
About Beetlejuice 2, the “Beetlejuice goes to Hawaii” sequel proposed initially before the 90s is very unlikely to happen in 2024. But no matter how the story goes, we have our complete faith in Michael Keaton’s “the ultimate batshit” Beetlejuice persona; it’s gonna be wild!
Katherine O’Hara and Winona Ryder are reprising their roles from the first movie. And the new cast is equally iconic with gems like Monica Bellucci and Willem Dafoe on board.
The insider source confirmed that they want this film to be respectful to the fans of OG Beetlejuice. That has been the focal point even in costume design and the looks of the characters. So, expect to see Keaton in the signature Beetlejuice pinstripe suit; and rumor has it, the red wedding gown from the first film might make a comeback as well!
Different Shades Of Jenna Ortega
Tara Carpenter has been the core attraction of the new Scream movies since the opening scene of the fifth movie. Although she doesn’t have Billy Loomis’ killer instinct as her sister does, in both Scream and Scream VI, we see how dark she can get when the situation requires her to be. And how everything was left at the end of the sixth film, there’s a good chance we’ll probably see an even darker side of Jenna Ortega’s character in Scream 7.
Ortega will be introduced as Lydia Deetz’s (Winona Ryder) daughter in Beetlejuice 2. There’s nothing more discussed yet, but it’s being speculated from that one teaser photo of her in a wedding dress, that a wedding is probably going to be a staple event again in the sequel. The only question is, is the groom Beetlejuice (Again)? Is Lydia’s daughter like her mom? She can probably see the dead people just like her mom, right? Whatever it’s going to be, it’s surely going to be awesome for our girl Jenna, because Tim Burton simply adores her. (Us too!)
So, here we go. Two potential candidates for Halloween 2024 (or Summer 2025, hopefully not) await us. And honestly, we can’t wait. Jenna Ortega in horror movies is always a delight.
